Q&A with Suntribe Head of Customer Happiness, Hanna Oltmanns

Suntribe started back in 2016 when our three co-founders (Karl, Julia & Hampus) realised how many sunscreens were full of chemicals that are bad for both people and the environment. They saw a clear gap for products that are genuinely safe and natural without compromising on performance. The idea was simple: Make worry-free sunscreens using only natural ingredients you can trust.

What makes Suntribe products different?

What makes Suntribe different is that we only use ingredients that are proven safe for both people and nature — no unnecessary chemicals, perfumes, or preservatives. Every formula is stripped back to the essentials, but still delivers high performance, whether you’re surfing, hiking, or just spending time outdoors. We also test our products in real-life conditions instead of just in a lab, which makes them truly reliable. On top of that, we’re radically transparent, so customers know exactly what goes on their skin and into the environment.

What’s your favourite moment in nature?

My favourite moment in nature was when our co-founder, Julia and I swam through a beautiful lake near our house in late August. The water was perfectly calm, the air was crisp, and it felt like one of those rare, magical evenings where everything slows down and you’re completely present in the moment.

What does your daily skincare or suncare routine look like?

My routine is really simple - I start and end the day by cleansing my skin with a gentle, natural wash gel. In the mornings, I apply Suntribe's Mineral Tinted Day Cream for protection and then put on my daily makeup. In the evenings, after cleaning, I use a gentle natural night cream with hyaluronic acid and retinol and make sure I go to bed early.

What are your favourite Suntribe products?

My absolute must-have is our Kids Sunscreen — I use it almost daily in the summer, both for myself and for my two sons. Another favourite is our Active Organic Mineral Sunscreen SPF 50, it is perfect for long days at the beach or the pool, me and my boys can be in the water without having to worry about constant reapplication. This sunscreen is such a game-changer, and I never leave without it in my beach bag.

What’s one skincare tip you swear by?

I swear by getting enough sleep. When you’re well-rested, your skin has the time it needs to repair and regenerate, which makes a huge difference in how healthy and fresh it looks. I find that no cream or treatment can replace the glow that comes from a good night's sleep.
